Reblogging my own post mere seconds later because as I continued watching there is that moment that made me giggle out loud is when Jo and the younger military man entered, the doctor said, in a very uncertain way, that "the master isn't on earth", and nervously spinned the rotating chair with his hand and then the brigadier stopped the chair from spinning and made eye contact with the doctor which is such a mother thing to do like a child plays with the spinning chair and then the mother stops them and the eye contact speaks so much for itself it just screams "naughty child when we get home you will have no computer time" and it's just so cute how he gets nervous like that about the master like aren't these guys literally husbands it's just so silly omg

I already love this serial and I'm just 4 minutes into the first episode.

Currently watching Claws of Axos

A lot of people think the 3rd doctor era was discriminating (though it could've totally been if Jon Pertwee wasn't the doctor because he was actually standing up against the directors more than the two other doctors before him, like that time Caroline John was asked to wear short skirts in the caves but Jon demanded less vulgar clothing which at that time female companions mostly wore just short skirts like Zoe for example, or the fact that Jon in general stands up against discrimination so much compared to other actors at the time that he turned down the TV adaptation of a role in a BBC radio drama he had for more than half a decade just because his friend was turned down for the reason of "he was gay"), but I actually love the doctor's reaction to "England for the english" since he gets angry and just screams at the old guy with glasses "England for the english good heavens man !" and the old guy replies "I have a duty for my country !" and the doctor says "not for the world ?" and you can SEE how angry was the doctor at that, which adds another reason of why I absolutely love Jon Pertwee and his doctor and why is he so underrated.

Okay admittedly I haven't read this book in years and have a bad memory. However! Such a good book. It is thee Doctor x Master book imo. So if you enjoy them (especially if you enjoy Three/Delgado!Master) you should definitely read it. Quote: ""We are what we are, Doctor. they lean into each other, three's lips on delgado's brow, both doctor and master are saying many things telepathically that they cannot bring themselves to speak aloud.

they sit down, the master taking three's hand in both of his. "do tell me all about your adventures"

"no need for haste, old chap. i thought perhaps i might stay for good this time." they put their hand on the master's.

"i should like that, doctor."

very happy to finally receive the 3rd doctor figure from BCS! due to covid there were so many delays, which added a lot of feeling to this reunion story.

NSFW HEADCANNON WARNING ABOUT THOSCHEI DYNAMICS

I've seen ao3 and a lot of it seems to think the master is a top, and I can see why because of the surface level need for control and dominance, but isn't calling yourself master and demanding obedience from everyone around you sounding a little like over compensation? You're telling the Simms master who wears a collar, cries from getting called beautiful, curls up in a ball when told he's forgiven, and is that much shorter is going to top 10? He'd become an emotional mess if 10 called him beautiful during sex. Also I think he WANTS someone to put him in his place and be more powerful, I think he finds power attractive, 10 would be so mushy and he'd die.

People seem to agree about spy though, that an angry pegging from 13 might fix him

Now onto ainley, he's short, deep down respects and adores the doctor, has been grabbed by the waist by 4, has mutual back and fourth banner with 5 that isn't uneven, and can't take losing in anything, he'd rather die than lose, same with the others, but people keep writing him like he'd use hypnosis or manipulation, he respects the doctor far too much for that and again, if someone showed power over him he'd cave, 5 has a chance with his sass and 4 definitely could because he can handle that attitude with equal measure

The Roberts master is characterized the same way ainley is, like some hypnosis freak, sure he's monotone and stubborn but did you see the equal argument at the end "what do you know about second chances?" "More than you!" He'd put up a front and denial but 8 could, 8 and 5 are not uwu soft bois and neither is 10

The masters aren't tops, they're brats

Delgado might be able to? But 3 did kind of grab his waist and he does show a gentle panic over the doctor's concern, and 3 is so bitchy, he'd be stubborn too but he probably goes both ways if you can impress him enough

Missy is the only one I think could in theory, she'd die to peg 12 but 12 would absolutely not let her

You know, if I was the Master I would have wanted to kill the 12th doctor too, from his perspective he was left to die with his Gallifrey dictator abuser after finally working with the Doctor in the end. "You can be redeemed" and then that's what he gets? He had no way of knowing the 10th Doctor died after that so he probably just felt so abandoned and alone. And then the first thing the 12th Doctor says is how he was probably just hiding out because everyone recognizes his 'stupid round face' the Doctor has no idea the hell he went through just to make it there, do you think Gallifrey wouldn't torture a criminal, especially one they specifically hate? No one talks about all the times the Doctor has left the Master and the abandonment he must feel

Some examples: Originally left on Gallifrey when the Doctor ran away even though they were best friends, left on a collapsing planet, sacrificed to an iron maiden to save an innocent, left in a fire to die, left on a collapsing planet again, multiple executions throughout Delgado and ainley, left in a mirror after the events of the eye of harmony in a book about the 8th doctor, and left on Gallifrey AGAIN

So the master has always been a little suicidal let's be real, and 90% of the time he tries to drag the doctor with him: spy telling 13 to blow them both up, ainley telling 7 to fight him on a collapsing planet, ainley snapping and trying to blow up the universe on purpose, Delgado trying to go back and time and risking fucking up him and 3's current life, Missy and Saxon unleashing Cybermen despite themselves etc.

So I wrote a story about koschei also having those thoughts and asking theta to join out of devotion, I assume most of the examples of the master are out of bitterness but with koschei is out of wanting an end to the constant drumming

Theta and Koschei sat on the edge of a cliff overlooking Gallifrey, the twin suns were low, coating the landscape in a golden glow of colors. The Academy loomed in the distance, but here they were free from the pressures and expectations they had. They often escaped to this spot to take in the beauty of their home planet, however, the usual tranquility was gone. Koschei had been unusually restless, his eyes were distant, like he was focused on something else. Theta noticed but didn't want to press his friend too soon, he knew about the drums, the relentless pounding that haunted Koschei’s mind, and had done everything he could to help, but they never fully went away so he assumed maybe this behavior was related.

As the sun dipped lower, casting long shadows over the cliff, Koschei finally spoke, his voice showing no sign of how he felt, it was matter of fact. "You know, if we jumped off this cliff together it would prove what great friends we are, wouldn't it?"

Theta's hearts skipped a beat and he turned to look at Koschei, trying to read the expression on his face. Was this just a morbid joke, or something more? He chose the first for some peace of mind. "Would we hold hands?" he joked uncomfortable, trying to keep his tone light but his concern was evident.

Koschei met his gaze, his eyes filled with a seriousness that sent a chill down Theta's spine. "Yes," he replied softly. "We would."

Theta swallowed hard, "Koschei, why would you ever think about something like that?"

Koschei crumbled and began to shake like a leaf from trying to hold back the emotions spilling all at once, "The drums, Theta, the drums! They're unbearable! But what's more unbearable is the thought of leaving you all alone. I can't bear the thought of a life without you so you must feel the same about me, if we die together, maybe... maybe my next regeneration won't hear them anymore?"

Theta felt a wave of sorrow and fear wash over him. He reached out, taking Koschei's hand in his own, holding it tightly, his other held his face. "Koschei, listen to me. I know it's hard but this isn't the answer. I promise you, one day, I will find a way to fix it. I will help you, but you have to hold on. Please, don't ever think about doing something like that again?"

Koschei's composure broke, and he began to cry, his body trembling more with the force of his sobs. "I just want it to stop, Theta! I want it to stop so badly!"

Theta pulled him into a tight embrace as he cried. "I know, Koschei. I know. But you have to stay with me. We’ll get through this together. I won’t leave you alone with this, I'm right here. "

They sat there for a long time, long enough for the suns to set. Theta continued to hold Koschei, whispering words of comfort and reassurance. As the stars appeared in the Gallifreyan sky, Koschei's sobs gradually subsided. He remained in Theta's arms, exhausted from all his emotions . For now, that was enough.

In the quiet of the night the only sound was their breathing, it was soothing to them both, to Theta because it was a reminder his friend would stay alive, and to Koschei because it was a reminder his friend wouldn't leave him to deal with this alone.

Oh the angst of knowing his friend WILL indeed leave him to deal with this alone

I'm writing what I think the first time the Doctor and the Master ever saw each other again after leaving Gallifrey was like

See, it's canon that their rivalry is about their different viewpoints on the universe, but what's also canon according to audios that most don't know is that the Doctor left the master on Gallifrey after promising they'd leave together and they'd explore the stars together. This is referenced in audios with the line "I think the only reason he left is because I did" and an entire plot about the Rani and the Master trying to hunt the Doctor down together after he left because they were both pissed. It's assumed the Doctor was going to come back for him but the Master left before he could find that out, it's extremely tragic it's partially built on a misunderstanding, I think the Master wants to hate him but he can't

A Short about if the 3rd Doctor gave a speech about redemption to his Master the way the 10th Doctor did (been watching them, I love old man yaoi)

The Doctor and the Master stand among the ruins of a civilization the Master attempted and failed to control. The Master stands in cuffs as well, leaning against a pillar just waiting to be dragged back to that prison with an expression of indifference as always, he escapes easily enough to not be concerned. Instead of leading him to any punishment, the Doctor speaks.

"We don’t have to keep doing this, you know. This endless cycle of plotting and thwarting. You’re brilliant, Master. Just imagine what we could accomplish together if you used your talents for good."

The master is momentarily caught off guard before resorting back to his usual demeanor, he could almost laugh at the attempt, "For good? You mean, join you in your tedious crusade for justice and righteousness?? How predictably dull, Doctor."

But the Doctor isn't deterred, he steps forward and insists, trying to get through to his old friend, "Not dull, challenging, rewarding. Think about it, the two of us with all of time and space at our disposal, fixing the wrongs, helping civilizations thrive, exploring the wonders of the universe not to conquer but to understand."

"And what makes you think I’d find that even remotely appealing? Power, control, and bending the universe to my will? That’s the real thrill, Doctor." His old friend also isn't deterred, he just smiles, like his thought process is the most correct a thought process could ever be.

The other shakes his head, a little frustrated. "I know you better than that. Beneath all the schemes and the desire for power there’s a brilliant mind seeking recognition, understanding, and maybe even a bit of companionship. All these conquests... they’re just a way to fill the void, aren’t they?" He steps closer again but the Master back away this time, his smirk fades into shock before switching up to anger to cover it.

"Don’t psychoanalyze me. You’re wasting your breath." He glares.

The Doctor sighs and looks at the ground as he speaks softly, "Maybe I am." He looks back up with a burning intensity as he makes eye contact with the conflicted Master, "But I’ve seen glimpses. Moments when you hesitated, when you spared lives you didn’t have to. There’s good in you. It’s buried deep, but it’s there." He extends his hand to the other, the cuffs would make a handshake awkward but still slightly doable, he doesn't care as long as he agrees. "Come with me. Let’s use our combined knowledge for something more significant than either of us ever could alone."

The Master turns away, seemingly contemplating the Doctor’s words, then looks back with a mix of mockery and genuine contemplation. " ..And if I refuse? What then?"

"Then we go back to our old game. But the offer still stands, I'll be waiting, you'll come around eventually" he gives a soft smile, believing his words to be true.

The Master looks at the Doctor for a long moment, a silent battle playing out in his eyes. Finally, he sighs, a small, almost regretful smile playing on his lips. "You always were the sentimental one. Perhaps, Doctor. Perhaps one day." His smile fades. "But not today." The Master turns away and watches as the car arrives that will take him to his cell, he's content with this familiarity instead of embracing the unknown.

I post so much angst that I decided to make a short funny story of threegado as an apology

The Master paced around his captive smugly before giving the Doctor a look. "Doctor," he smirked, "I have your precious little Jo, so unless you do what I say-"

"Oh, come now." the Doctor interrupted, his voice laced with more annoyance than concern. "We both know you’re not going to harm her."

Jo, bound and watching, stared in horror. She trusted the Doctor, sure, but the Master was not a kind man when it came to human life by any means.

The Master’s eyes narrowed in confusion. "Why are you so confident? Do you really think I wouldn’t-"

"Because," the Doctor interrupted, "it’s not your style. You thrive on chaos and manipulation, not senseless violence. Hurting Jo wouldn’t further your plans; it would only solidify my resolve against you."

The Master clenched his fists, his frustration evident. He had banked on the Doctor’s fear for his companion to weaken him, but the Doctor’s unshakeable confidence threw a wrench in that. "You're as insufferably clever as me."

The Doctor allowed himself a small smile, his eyes flicking towards Jo, reassuring her without words. "Thank you. Now, why don’t we settle this one on one? This battle is between us."

The Master scowled, realizing his leverage was slipping. "Very well, Doctor, but I will find another way to break you."

"Perhaps" the Doctor replied nonchalantly.

The Master muttered something under his breath and gestured to one of his minions to untie Jo. As she stumbled free, she ran to the Doctor’s side and clung onto him, not really able to focus on processing that odd phrasing she just heard.

They're so insufferably divorced
